About the Journal

The RCA is the oldest anthropology journal in the country. It was first published in 1953 as the official diffusion organ of the newly created Colombian Institute of Anthropology, and replaced the Journal of the National Ethnological Institute and the Bulletin of Archaeology. Since then it has been an instrument of dissemination of disciplinary research and knowledge in the country, and reflects critical discussions of the advances in the anthropological field at the national and international level. The RCA is directed to the community of researchers, teachers, professionals, and students of anthropology and the social sciences.

RCA is a biannual peer-review scientific publication. The Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History is the institution responsible for its financing, editing, digital publication. All contents are Open Access and freely available on the ICANH website. Volumes are published at the beginning of each semester.

The journal receives unpublished contributions in Spanish in the following categories: original research articles, reflection articles, review articles, short articles, case reports, and reviews. Its structure includes: thematic dossier, methods section, miscellaneous contributions, and reviews.

 

The Journal declares that all the articles received are subjected to the plagiarism detection tool. The authors must state that the text is their own, unpublished, and that they respect the intellectual property rights of third parties; and the evaluators,  indicate in the evaluation format that they have no conflict of interest with the authors and topics on which they are going to conceptualize.
